Hong Kong 香港十八區
Hong Kong is located on the southeast coast of the People's Republic of China. It was once a fishing village and transformed into an important financial centre under 156 years of British rule from 1841. The transfer of sovereignty of the colony from the United Kingdom to the People's Republic of China occurred on July 1, 1997.
Today, along with Macau, Hong Kong is one of the two Special Adminstrative Regions(SAR) of China. The city has its own government and enjoys a high degree of autonomy in all matters except defense affairs which is the responsibility of China. In 2009, Hong Kong ranked as the world's freest economy for the 15th year in a row and Asia's best judicial system.
