London, a major global city and the capital of the United Kingdom, is one of the world's most important financial and cultural centres. It is the second most populous city in Europe, with a population of around 7.6 million in 32 boroughs and the City of London. The Greater London Region is rich in history and home to four UNESCO World Heritage Sites, more than any other city. Yet, its perseverance in keeping traditions and cultural heritage does not prevent London from thriving as a world-class city.
