Coloane is located in the southern-most region of Macau.
It was a sea salt farm for China and became a haven for pirates during colonial time until the early 20th century. It is largely rural and provides a quiet spot from the crowded for locals. Portuguese-style houses and narrow lanes are plenty in the village, and it is one of if not the best place to get a true taste of Portuguese cuisine.
