Buses in Macau 澳門巴士

Transportas Companhia de Macau (TCM/澳巴) and Transportes Urbanos de Macau (Transmac/新福利) are the two public transit bus operators in Macau. In the city, free shuttle service between the Macau Terminal and casinos are increasing as a result of growing casino development, but local taxi and public bus are still in a shortage and thus, residents and tourists often find traveling difficulit within Macau. However, a mass transit system was proposed with a target completion date of 2013.

TCM/澳巴 operates 22 day routes and 2 overnight routes with a fleet consisting of over 180 air conditioned single-decker buses mostly imported from Japan and Mainland China. TCM was formerly a ferry company which provided service between Macau and the islands until 1974 when the Macau-Taipa bridge was completed.

Transmac/新福利 operates 32 day routes and 2 overnight routes with a fleet consisting of nearly 380 air conditioned single-decker buses imported from Japan, Europe and Mainland China. Transmac had a double-decker fleet of Daimler and Bristol Lodekka from early 70s until the late 80s. The company also operates bus service in four Mainland Chinese cities.
