Sham Shui Po District is located in the northwestern part of Kowloon. The district is densely populated and has the highest percentage of elderly over 65 and the lowest median household income. It covers the areas of Shamshuipo, Cheung Sha Wan, Shek Kip Mei, Kowloon Tong West and Lai Chi Kok. Shamshuipo is mainly covered by old residential buildings but attracts both locals and tourists for its unique street markets and cheap electronic devices and components. Urban renewal projects have been taking place as the area suffers from urban decay.
