Tokyo, formerly known as Edo, is the capital city of Japan and also one of the largest cities in the world with a population of over 12 million. The entire population of the Greater Tokyo area reaches 35 million, making it the most populous metropolitan area in the world. The city is rich in history, and at the same time it is a major international finance centre that houses many domestic and international corporate headquarters.
Photos below were taken on Dec. 2006 during my four-day visit to the city. I have spent the last day in a small beautiful town named Narita, and as a big fan of Hayao Miyazaki's animation films I have also spent half of a day in Ghibli Museum in Mitaka, but photographs, as always, are prohibited inside a museum.
